One More Mile - Photo Book

My father spent his younger years backpacking with friends in the mountains of Colorado. Recounting one of his many trips, he told me about a lengthy trip they took up to Vestal Basin. My dad planned the route but no one in the group had been there before - he led the way.

After many miles of difficult hiking, his friends were tired and ready to set up camp. Knowing this was a poor place to camp and there was a great spot further ahead, my dad coaxed them into continuing on.

They continued walking for a while longer, and his friends grew impatient, asking when they would get there. My dad replied “Almost there - just over this hill”. This cycle of asking how much further and my dad deflecting continued for nearly two hours before they actually reached camp. Exhausted and ready to yell at my dad, they finally came to the incredible basin and saw their campsite. All was forgiven.

This unrelenting desire to explore and willingness to push through to see what’s over the next ridge has stuck with me. Now as an adult, I’m lucky enough to explore and adventure on my own, always wanting to go just one more mile, eager to see what might lay ahead.

This collection of photos is a small window into my push to go just one more mile from 2019 - 2021.
